An empty classroom, Monday afternoon

Angela, looking a little worried, exits study hall and veers into a small, not-in-use classroom.

Phoebe follows her friend in concern. She can tell that Angela is a little upset.

"Angela, hun, what's wrong?"

She looks around and ponders a silence spell.

Angels twists her fingers nervously. "It's probably not a huge deal. Probably. It's just that after what happened with Angelus ... I don't want to take chances. You know?"

"And, um, I get that you and Cole are good together, or whatever. But someone told me something about him that ... I don't know, I just feel like you should hear it."

Phoebe reaches out to touch Angela's arm. "You can always talk to me, no matter what it's about, Angela. You're like my best friend."

She tilted her head. "What about Cole?"

"It's Tara. Ms. Maclay," Angela sighs. "She and Shane McCutcheon ... I don't know what he said, but they feel like he threatened them at that Harvest Festival the weekend before last. I think it had something to do with Tara having done the spell to soul Angelus."

"I mean, like I said -- I wasn't there, and this is secondhand. But I just thought you should know."

Phoebe's face goes whiter than normal.

"He...he threatened Tara? Spell...soul?" Phoebe is really confused. "Okay, I just spent the last week and a half in bed with the flu...what did I miss?"

"Right. Starting the conversation in the middle. I, um, sometimes do that."

She smiles, weakly. "Okay. Angelus is a vampire. In his world, there's a curse that was done to give him a soul, which basically, like, torments him and stops him from wanting to, y'know, kill people so often. After Kitty died and because of some other stuff, me and Parker and Marty and some other people looked for the curse. We found it, and Tara did it Friday before last, which is why Angelus has cut down on the leather in his wardrobe and gotten all broody lately. You haven't noticed he's not hanging around Cole so much?"

She glances at Phoebe. "Right. Sick in bed. Anyhow, so Angel is souled, and ... I told you the rest of what I know. You should ask Tara what exactly he said."

Phoebe feels as if she's been punched in the chest. She looks at Angela and tries to smile, but fails to do so.

Cole...threatening Tara...but in the make-up class...

"I'm going to assume that he's threatening Tara because she put a soul into Angelus?"

Phoebe took a shuddering breath. "...and they looked so normal together in class today."

Angela shrugs. "I wasn't in at the same time as Cole. Maybe he worked it out with her, somehow. Maybe Shane was wrong."

"I just thought you should know. I mean, if you heard the same kind of thing about Marty, I'd want you to tell me."

Phoebe nods and hugs Angela.

"Thank you, Angela, and you're right, if I knew something like this about Marty, I would tell you."

She steps back and smiles faintly.

"Looks like I get to have a talk with my boyfriend...no one threatens Tara."
