chasingangela | Phone call with Veronica, Tuesday a.m.

After hanging up with Phoebe, Veronica tries to figure out who to call next. Still wanting to put off the inevitable conversation with Rory, she decides to call Angela. Maybe she can get a feel for how Rory
reacted from her.

She dials the phone, half hoping it will go to voicemail and half hoping Angela will answer.

Angela is almost out the door to journalism class when her ringing phone lures her back. "Hello?" she says, sounding a little out of breath.

Veronica takes a deep breath. "Angela, it's Veronica. I, um, wanted to apologize for what happened last night. I don't know if you heard the radio, but Piper and I got bitten by a gremlin."

"I didn't hear the radio today," Angela says. "A gremlin made you give a lap dance to your ex-boyfriend?"

"No, but a gremlin bite made my lose my inhibitions, which made me give a lap dance to my ex-boyfriend, among others." She pauses. "I know how it looked, Angela. And I don't blame you guys for being upset with me. But Logan really was trying to push me off. And... I'm glad Parker pulled me away before I did anything worse."

Angela winces into the phone. "God, I'm sorry that happened to you. Are you okay now?"

"And I didn't see enough to be able to tell what Logan was doing. I mean, he looked pretty happy, but whatever, I'll take your word for it on that."

She twirls the phone cord in her fingers.

"Did you talk to Rory yet? And, um ... Marty wasn't one of the "others," was he?"

"Oh, God no!" Veronica answers. "Marty and I are just friends. I didn't even know he was there until he stopped by this morning to see if I was okay. Trust me, Angela, you have absolutely nothing to worry about on that front ~~because he's pseudo!Wallace and that would be all kinds of wrong!~~.

"And no, I haven't called Rory or Logan yet. Did he explain to Rory what happened?"

"I believe you," Angela says. "And I trust both of you. So. Still, good to be reassured." Now if I could just believe it, she thinks.

"And on Rory and Logan -- I'm not sure. She was pretty upset so Marty and I kind of got out of there to give them some privacy, y'know?"

She hesitates. "I think she might have thought it, um, wasn't the first time, with you and Logan. I mean, obviously not the first time, but, I think she thought it was ... ongoing. She was mad at him, not you,
though."

It takes Veronica a moment to realize what Angela is saying. "She thinks that Logan has been seeing me behind her back? Oh crap." She exhaled heavily. "That couldn't be further from the truth. I guess I need to call both of them. I really am sorry, Angela. Thanks for being understanding."

"I don't know why Rory thinks that -- I guess it was something she heard on the radio about you," Angela sighs. "Which -- the radio trashes everyone, and I know she knows that. She'll probably be fine once she
cools down, they've fought before."

"And as for you and me -- no problem. Just stay away from gremlins ~~and other people's boyfriends~~, okay?"

"Oh believe me, next time I run across one of those monsters, it'll be meeting the sole of my boot," Veronica says. "I'll talk to you later."

"Bye, Veronica. Good luck with Rory and Logan."

Angela hangs up.
