UNY Dorm Room, Saturday Afternoon

It was Angela's 19th birthday, but she didn't have any plans to celebrate, really. She'd let herself have a caramel latte at work --- ooh, rebellion -- and was now flopped on her bed, trying to do some reading for her women's lit final.

Of course, Virginia Woolf wouldn't do her much good if she didn't make it past freshman year, but Angela wasn't letting herself think that far ahead.

"You cannot get there and then come back to Three Rivers," Rayanne agreed. "It would be, like, wrong. Plus, if you come back, whose couch will we crash on?"

Angela laughed, which felt good. "So you guys will spoil the kid, right?" she had to know.

"Spoiled rotten," Rickie promised. "And now I feel bad running? But Tino's waiting for us outside. We'll call next week to check in, okay?"

"Okay!" Angela agreed. "Seriously, you don't have to check in -- I'm pregnant, not dying of leukemia."

Rayanne sounded very certain as she replied. "We'll check in. Later, Angelika."

"Later," Angela returned.
