Marty's Apartment, NYC, Late Monday

Angela planned to get to the apartment much, much earlier. She did.
But after the tests, and the ... more tests, and the clinic, she ... she kind of lost herself, for a little bit, and ended up wandering the city, scarcely noticing what streets she was on. Eventually, she realized she was in front of Marty's apartment building, and decided this was a sign.
When knocking on the door brought no response, she let herself in with her key and settled cross-legged on the floor to wait. She tried to read, but the words melted together on the page. So she just sat in the gathering darkness.

Date: 2008-04-01 03:47 am (UTC)"Yes," she said, then immediately amended. "No. Things are ... complicated."
"No one's dead or anything," she finally managed.

Date: 2008-04-01 03:54 am (UTC)It was a white plastic stick, with two pink lines crossing a window near the tip, and she held it up to show Marty. "It's positive," she explained in a whisper.

Date: 2008-04-01 03:57 am (UTC)After a few more seconds, the pee stick display begun to seem redundant, even grotesque, and she stashed it again. "The clinic says the same thing," she noted quietly. "Went this afternoon."

Date: 2008-04-01 04:07 am (UTC)"I... Um. Okay. Two months?"

Date: 2008-04-01 04:11 am (UTC)"They told me it would be here around Halloween. If ..." she let the sentence end, not sure if Marty would agree there was an if here.

Date: 2008-04-01 04:16 am (UTC)He gestured again which really didn't sum up the whole moment.
"What... what do you want to do?"
no subject
Date: 2008-04-01 04:19 am (UTC)Angela's flail in place of a word here was entirely inadequate.

Date: 2008-04-01 04:24 am (UTC)"Except." She glanced at his face, trying to read it. "We met our kids, Marty. What if this is Graham, and we don't have him because ..." She pushed her hair back. "That isn't logical, is it?"
no subject
Date: 2008-04-01 04:31 am (UTC)Marty shook his head as he tried to get his head together. "I'm not sure we can just look at the logical thing here."

Date: 2008-04-01 04:36 am (UTC)"Rory's mom was younger, even," she pointed out. "And Rory's birth dad's a dick. And Rory's awesome And my mom's adopted, and ... shit, I don't know. I don't know if I can do anything but have it." She didn't sound entirely happy about this conclusion.

Date: 2008-04-01 04:43 am (UTC)Marty nodded emphatically hoping he somehow was making a point.

Date: 2008-04-01 04:46 am (UTC)"So I guess I'm keeping it." Again with the not sounding thrilled.

Date: 2008-04-01 04:49 am (UTC)"Marry me."
And judging by the shocked look on his face it may not be what Marty intended to say.
no subject
Date: 2008-04-01 04:52 am (UTC)"No. I mean ... not now. Not if you don't really want to."
no subject
Date: 2008-04-01 04:58 am (UTC)Marty frowned and tried to sum it all up. "I dunno. I didn't think about it. It was asking that was the important thing.'

Date: 2008-04-01 05:02 am (UTC)"I love you too," she said, working it out as she spoke. "But this thing is ... big enough and strange enough and new enough and weird enough, and we'll probably need to leave school, or I will, and ... I do want to marry you. Someday. Just not just because of this, you know?"

Date: 2008-04-01 05:09 am (UTC)God. She had to be the grown-up forever.
She had to be somebody's mom.
"Maybe that's why we get nine months," she speculated. "To give us a chance to put it together and quit freaking out and ... I have no idea what we're doing. Like, none."
no subject
Date: 2008-04-01 05:13 am (UTC)"Okay. Look, I'm just going to stop freaking out here for a bit because I think you really don't need that at the moment," he said quietly and with what he hoped was an amused tone in his voice. "Because... well, we love each other right? So this can't be an entirely bad thing. It's a good thing. Because it's both a part of us, y'know?"

Date: 2008-04-01 05:16 am (UTC)Stupid pregnancy hormones.
"A good thing," she finally found her voice enough to say.
