Room 304, Sunday night

Angela had pushed the beds together and covered them with every pillow or cushion she could get her hands on -- if the third floor common room appears slightly denuded, blame her.

Of course, Min claimed a prime spot in the middle of the bed-couch-thing. And sneered. It was amazing how big and immobile a ten-pound cat could look.

She set out some snacks and drinks on the desk, then turned to trying to set up Marty's laptop to act as a DVD player. It couldn't be that complicated, could it? She bit her lip, wondering if she'd need to wait for him to get back from his trip to the store before they could start.

Finally, the disc loaded, and she let up a cheer as she waited for her guests.

Rory smiled and waved. "Hi, Marty. Um, we're watching that one about the guy whose life is on display for everyone." She made a face. "That would be so annoying, to have your whole existence just as someone's entertainment. But it's a great concept for a film."

"Hey Rory," Marty said returning the grin. "That's a good film. I'm just glad it's not 'Stupid and Stupider'. I think that's more annoying that the whole existence thing. Anyone want a glass of wine?"

"I'll take white," Angela said, fiddling with the laptop. "And I think we're ready to start the movie now, so ... yay."

"White for me, please," Rory said with a small smile, and Anakin nodded quietly to the red omg *mods. "Can I help with anything? 'Cause I think we're otherwise ready to start, too."

"I think we're good," Angela said. "We can all reach the food, right?"

She hit play on the movie. "The part where the producer guy talks about the show is just a little creepy," she noted, settling in with a bit of roast chicken and her wine.

"He's actually not the original actor for the role," Marty said munching on crostini with tapanade. "I was supposed to be for Dennis Hopper who is even creepier in my opinion. He walked off the set on the first day so they cast Ed Harris at the last minute."

"Ew, creepy," Rory said, making a face. "Why did he walk off the set? Just being a tempermental actor?"

"Not sure," Marty said with a shrug as he handed Rory her wine glass. "I think it was 'creative differences' which means someone was being an a-hole."

Angela reached down to snag some shrimp in garlic sauce. "Or that someone wanted more money," she suggested. "I dunno. Doesn't knowing stuff like that make it harder to, like, enter into the world of the movie?"

"Not for me," Rory said, taking her glass and sipping. "But then again, I grew up knowing way too much about pretty much every movie I watched since my mom's the pop culture queen."

"Yeah, I've never let the whole drama behind the scenes color my thinking of the actual movie," Marty nodded. "Otherwise I'd probably stop watching movies all together."

Marty chuckled at a scene of the movie. "I love how they get all the advertisements in on this."

"Very creative," Angela agreed, eyeing her boyfriend. "Helps make us hate his wife, too."

And scooting over so she could rest her head in his lap. "Comfy," she declared.

Rory smiled and rested her head against Anakin's shoulder, wrapping an arm around his waist. It was nice being all date-y, for once.

And if she was being competitive, it wasn't conscious.

"She really is kind of annoying," she agreed, burrowing a bit more into the warm mass of Jedi beside her.

"I always liked the scene where she finally cracks," Marty said playing with Angela's hair. "And the flashback to the girl he makes out of magazine ads."

"She's pretty," Angela agreed, scooting in even closer. "And I like all the buttons. 'I want to know how it ends.' It's such a good question."

"It is," Rory agreed softly, wrapping her other arm around Anakin from the front. "But it also implies losing all the good parts of finding out on your own."
